Which of these your own project would really touch, which will do nothing until something is installed or an account exists, the one with no graph in it at all, and why counting the entries off its own readme comes out short.

Fourteen answers to different questions.

The 14 guides here do not stack into one tool. They are Apollo's separate written answers to separate questions:

  • how to shape a GraphQL schema, and how to write the requests that hit it
  • how to build the server behind it, in JavaScript
  • how to connect a React, iPhone or Android app to that server
  • how to put one front door in front of several services, and publish a schema change without breaking the apps already using it

Two belong to none of those questions: Apollo's in-house Rust style guide, and instructions for writing further guides for this repository itself.

Mostly reading matter, with three exceptions.

Most of them are reading matter: patterns for a project you already have, with nothing to install. Three want a toolchain there first:

  • apollo-server — a project you can already run npm install in
  • apollo-client — an npm project you can already build
  • apollo-mcp-server — it fetches and installs its own program

And rover wants an Apollo account and a key before it can publish or check a schema against a real graph.

Three are missing from its own command table.

Three of the 14 are absent from the readme's table of slash commands:

  • apollo-federation
  • apollo-router
  • apollo-router-plugin-creator — which, alone among the three, also wants an existing Rust project with the Router already in it

The skills badge at the top of that page counts the table, not the repository.

Both describe a smaller set than the one that installs, and the three left out are exactly the ones about running several GraphQL services behind a single address.

What gets installed: 14 skills, 1 MCP server

Skills

Decisions taken before any Apollo product is involved, and they outlive it: what types the API offers and what each field may hand back, how pages of results are returned, how an error is modelled rather than thrown, and how the requests a client sends stay legible as the client grows.

graphql-operationsThe requests an app sends to a GraphQL server, written so they stay readable and easy to change as the app grows.graphql-schemaA GraphQL schema is the menu of what an API offers — this is how to shape it around what apps actually need, and change it later without breaking them.
