Overview
Tavily’s Claude Code plugin helps your agent find current information, read web pages and gather material for research. It supports quick fact checks, collecting website content and investigating questions that need several sources.
Describe the task naturally and the agent can select a Tavily skill when appropriate. You can also invoke a skill directly through a slash command. The search skill guides the agent to use available Tavily MCP tools, with the Tavily CLI as a fallback.
Use Cases
Collect documentation from a website
Find the relevant pages on a documentation site, then extract their content. For a whole section, crawling can collect multiple pages and save them as local Markdown files.
Compare options with supporting sources
Investigate a market, technology or set of alternatives across several criteria. The research skill guides the agent through gathering and weighing sources for a cited report.

Install
Claude Code
Install the full Tavily plugin from Anthropic’s official marketplace using Tavily’s Claude Code instructions.

In a local Claude Code session, run this command to open Tavily’s plugin details. Choose Install for you to use it across your projects, or select project scope for this repository.

Start a new Claude Code session to load the plugin.
When a task needs the Tavily CLI, Claude can install it on first use. CLI search and extraction support limited use without an account; the CLI’s mapping, crawling and research operations require browser sign-in.

In the plugin manager’s Installed section, confirm that tavily is enabled. Open the slash-command menu and look for its skills under the tavily name.
Install the full plugin from Tavily’s own marketplace using Tavily’s Claude setup guide.

Inside a local Claude Code session, add Tavily’s plugin marketplace.
