LABSCO SUMMARY

Summary

OpenSpec is a spec framework: you and your AI assistant agree on a written plan for each change before any code is written. These twelve skills are its workflows, the same files its command-line tool writes into a project.

  • The six installed by default: openspec-explore (think an idea through), openspec-propose (write the whole plan), openspec-apply-change (build it task by task), openspec-update-change (revise the plan), openspec-sync-specs (merge its requirements into the main specs) and openspec-archive-change (file the finished change away).
  • Six more you opt into: openspec-new-change and openspec-continue-change (plan one document at a time), openspec-ff-change (plan everything in one pass), openspec-verify-change (check the code against the plan), openspec-bulk-archive-change (archive several at once) and openspec-onboard (a guided first run on your own code).

Two ways in.

npx skills add Fission-AI/OpenSpec installs the skills on their own. The full setup is npm install -g @fission-ai/openspec@latest (Node.js 20.19.0 or newer), then openspec init in your project, which creates the openspec/ folder and installs the default six with their slash commands; add the other six with openspec config profile, then openspec update.

Every skill needs the CLI and that folder.

In a project without it, a skill stops before writing anything and asks how to proceed.
