LABSCO SUMMARY
The skills split into two kinds. Platform-integration skills cover Mapbox GL JS on the web (with React, Vue, Svelte, and Angular patterns), the Maps SDK for iOS in Swift and SwiftUI, and the Maps SDK for Android in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose — installation, markers, camera control, and the platform's own lifecycle quirks. Cross-cutting skills sit alongside them: cartographic design and color theory, choosing between offline geometry and routing APIs, structuring a search integration end to end, hardening access tokens, validating a style before shipping, and two migration guides — one from Google Maps Platform, one to and from the MapLibre GL JS fork.
This is for a team already committed to Mapbox who wants their agent writing to the current SDK shape instead of guessing at an API that changed last quarter. The cartography, token-security, and migration skills are useful before you've written a line of Mapbox code; the rest assume a real Mapbox product — Maps SDK, Search, or the MCP DevKit and runtime servers — already in the project.
READ THE FULL ANALYSIS
Most of it needs a live account before it does anything. Twelve of the nineteen skills are account-gated: they only make sense once you have a Mapbox access token to plug in. Four more depend on connecting one of the Mapbox MCP servers that the Claude plugin installs alongside them. Only three run on guidance alone, with no token and no MCP connection required.
Where the citations are, and where they aren't. The Android, Flutter, and iOS integration skills each say outright they are "based on official Mapbox documentation"; the web-integration skill instead cites Mapbox's own create-web-app scaffolding tool. The cartography, token-security, performance, and style-quality skills read as house engineering guidance with no specific doc cited — not a flaw, just a different kind of source.
The 19 have no group labels in our data. Unlike a multi-set package, this one is a flat list — there's no built-in way to install "just the iOS skills" short of naming each one, since Mapbox did not organize the repository into subsets.
We read the skill names, descriptions, and the first 12KB of a 32KB README; the SKILL.md bodies themselves were not part of our material.
