microsoft vscode-cosmosdb
OFFICIALLABSCO SUMMARY
cosmosdb-best-practices is the one that's about the product: NoSQL data modeling, partitioning, query patterns, and SDK usage for anyone writing code that reads or writes Cosmos DB, and our check marks it ready — no account or extra setup needed to use the skill itself.
The other three are contributor tooling for this specific repository, not for Cosmos DB users. accessibility-aria-expert fixes ARIA labels and keyboard navigation in the extension's own React/Fluent UI webviews; backport cherry-picks a PR, branch, or commit onto a release branch; telemetry-best-practices reviews the extension's own callWithTelemetryAndErrorHandling calls so they don't leak PII. None of the three descriptions mentions Cosmos DB.

Who this is for. Mostly people extending or fixing microsoft/vscode-cosmosdb's own source — three of the four skills only make sense inside that codebase. Someone who just wants an agent that writes good Cosmos DB queries has exactly one skill here that applies, and using it needs no account even though the extension it documents needs a live Azure account or the local emulator to run anything for real.
The extension itself is narrower than its history. The README's own Known Issues section says support for MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Graph (Gremlin), Table, and Cassandra was removed; it now covers Cosmos DB for NoSQL only, and points MongoDB and PostgreSQL users to two separate extensions instead.

WHAT'S INSIDE
4 showing · 4 totalNothing else to set up — install it and go.
accessibility-aria-expert
What a screen reader actually reads out when someone moves through your React interface, and what to change wherever it reads out the wrong thing.
backport
Carries a fix that already landed on one branch over onto an older release branch and opens the pull request for it, stopping to ask you if the code clashes.
cosmosdb-best-practices
Microsoft's own guidance for Azure Cosmos DB, turned into rules code can be checked against so the database does not end up slow and expensive.
telemetry-best-practices
The usage data this extension sends back can be seen by anyone with access to the dashboards, so this is the rule for which values may go into it and which must never.
