neondatabase agent-skills
OFFICIALLABSCO SUMMARY
neon is the overview and router skill, and also covers the no-account case through Claimable Postgres (neon.new — an instant, sign-up-free database claimable later). neon-postgres is the reference for the database itself: connections, branching, migrations, autoscaling, and the newer Lakebase vector, full-text, and hybrid search. neon-postgres-branches picks the right branch type for tests and CI, and neon-postgres-egress-optimizer diagnoses why a Neon bill spiked. Three more skills cover platform pieces beyond the database: neon-object-storage (S3-compatible storage that branches with the project), neon-ai-gateway (one credential routed to OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and other providers via Databricks), and neon-functions (long-running Node HTTP functions and cron triggers deployed onto a Neon branch).
This spans someone who just wants a disposable DATABASE_URL with no signup, up to a team wiring functions, storage, and an LLM gateway onto the same branch as their database. The Claude Code plugin (/plugin install neon-postgres@neon) bundles only neon, neon-postgres, and neon-postgres-branches plus the Neon MCP server; the other six, including both storage and the AI gateway, have to be added separately with npx skills add.
READ THE FULL ANALYSIS
One of the 9 isn't in the README's own list. The public "Available Skills" section names nine entries, but one of them — Neon Postgres Agent Platforms — actually lives in a companion repository, neondatabase/neon-for-agent-platforms, not here. What fills that ninth slot in this repo instead is score-eval, which carries no description in its skill file and is never mentioned in the README; it reads like an internal harness for testing the other skills rather than something to install for its own sake.

WHAT'S INSIDE
8 showing · 8 totalNothing else to set up — install it and go.
neon
Neon bundles a database, user sign-in, file storage, server code and access to AI models — this is the starting point that explains each piece and points you at the right one for your job.
neon-ai-gateway
One Neon key gets your app talking to Claude, GPT, Gemini and the rest, instead of a separate account and bill with every AI company.
neon-functions
Runs your backend code on Neon's servers right beside your database, where one request can stay open for hours instead of being cut off after a minute.
neon-object-storage
Somewhere to keep the files your app's users upload — photos, documents, attachments — that gets copied along with your database whenever you make a test or preview copy of it.
neon-postgres
Connect an app to Neon's Postgres database, then handle what comes after — a query that turned slow, a database that needs to grow, or search you want built in.
neon-postgres-branches
Makes a copy of your live database to test against — either a real copy with the data in it, or just the empty table structure when the data is too sensitive to duplicate.
neon-postgres-egress-optimizer
You find the queries that are driving up your Postgres bill, fix them, and confirm the data transfer actually dropped.
score-eval
Marks a set of code changes against a test app's rubric — for each of its five problems, whether the change spotted it and whether it actually fixed it — and adds the result to a scores file.
HOW TO GET IT
npx skills add neondatabase/agent-skillsnpx skills add neondatabase/agent-skills --skill <name> --full-depthPick the skill name from the Skills tab — each entry there installs independently.
/plugin marketplace add neondatabase/agent-skills/plugin install neon-postgres@neonTyped inside the agent's own prompt, not in a terminal. The marketplace is called neon, which is the part after the @.
