deepsec
Reads through a codebase hunting for security holes, writing its own detection rules as it goes and taking any you have written by hand.
LABSCO SUMMARY
deepsec ships a single skill that teaches a coding agent to drive Vercel's own vulnerability-scanning CLI, and a full run of it can cost thousands of dollars in model spend.
The skill itself does no scanning. It is the operating manual for the deepsec npm CLI — init, scan, process, triage, revalidate, enrich, report, export, metrics, status, and a sandbox variant of each that fans work across Vercel Sandbox microVMs. The CLI is what actually finds vulnerabilities: it runs the largest available models at maximum thinking effort against your code, resumes from wherever an interrupted run stopped, and writes findings back as JSON or Markdown per project.
That model spend is the real story here, not an aside. The README states plainly that scans "can cost thousands or even tens-of-thousands of dollars for large codebases," and that an existing Claude Pro/Max or ChatGPT Plus subscription is fine for trying deepsec but does not have enough headroom for a full repository scan — you are expected to bring a Vercel AI Gateway key sized for concurrent research-grade usage. This is a tool for a team with budget already earmarked for security scanning, not something to point at a side project on a whim.
deepsec's own security-model section says to run it only on trusted code, since it behaves like a coding agent with full shell access on whatever machine runs it. The optional Vercel Sandbox mode narrows that: API keys stay outside the sandbox where a compromised run can't reach them, and worker sandboxes can only reach coding-agent hosts on the network — but that protection is opt-in, not the default local path.
The CLI runs with npx deepsec init --plan --output json and needs no Vercel account for basic use; the cost figures above are the vendor's own.

Run this outside your AI tool, using Node.js 22.20.0 or newer. Skills CLI 1.7.2 skips skill selection; prompts cancel installation without an interactive terminal. If choosing Project when asked about installation scope, open your project's folder before running this.
