LABSCO SUMMARY
Asana status reports, task updates and new projects, scoped to your own access.
It works in both directions, reading status and blockers across projects and portfolios, and writing back up to 50 tasks at a time or a whole project with its sections.
What it is
Asana's second-generation remote MCP server, at mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp. It reads from and writes to the Asana workspace you pick when you sign in, and sees only what your own account can see. The older beta address, mcp.asana.com/sse, is deprecated; use the V2 address.
What you get
- Tasks, projects, portfolios, goals, teams and people found by search
- Your own open tasks, or tasks filtered by project, section, tag or assignee
- Full task details, including subtasks, dependencies, comments and attachments
- Status reports across projects or portfolios, with blockers flagged
- Tasks created or updated up to 50 at a time, and projects created with their sections and tasks
- Comments added to tasks and status updates posted to projects
- Tasks deleted, permanently
- In Claude and ChatGPT: task and project drafts shown for your review before they are created
Requirements
- An Asana account, and an MCP client that can sign in with OAuth.
- In Claude and ChatGPT you use Asana's app; coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code need you to create your own Asana MCP app in the developer console and use its client ID and secret.
- Your workspace admin must not have blocked the client.
- Signing in grants every tool, and the standard create tools (create_tasks and create_project) act at once without asking; in Claude or ChatGPT, use the preview versions when you want to check first.
Setup effort
Paste a URL, then authorize — add the endpoint to your client, then approve the OAuth consent screen
