CDS answers in your editor, matched to your version.
Component answers follow the CDS version installed in your project, so the agent writes code the supported way instead of from an older version it remembers.
What it is
The MCP server that comes with the Coinbase Design System (CDS), Coinbase's open-source set of UI guidelines and components. It gives your coding agent CDS context, generated from the CDS docs site, for both web and mobile. It serves documentation only; it does not touch Coinbase accounts or crypto.
What you get
- Answers about CDS components and their APIs, such as how to add an icon to a CDS Button
- Guidance on customizing a component's behavior, such as the CDS Stepper
- Documentation that matches the CDS library version your project uses
- CDS agent rules for Cursor or Claude Code, when you install with the setup command
Requirements
Node.js. Projects that use the CDS libraries already have the server as a dependency. Run the setup command to register it with Cursor or Claude Code, then switch it on in your agent. No account or key. Avoid installing a CDS library and server of different versions.
Setup effort
One command — npx --package=@coinbase/cds-mcp-server cds-mcp-setup
