Live project state for Flutter and Dart work, straight from the SDK.
Your assistant can check analyzer errors after each edit, hot reload the running app to see the change, and read any runtime errors it causes. Package questions go to pub.dev, with download counts and licences in the answer.
What it is
The Dart team's MCP server, which ships inside the Dart SDK and starts with the command dart mcp-server. It connects your coding assistant to the Dart SDK for live analyzer errors, symbol lookup, tests and inspection of a running app. The Dart team still marks it experimental and expects it to change quickly.
What you get
- Your project analyzed for errors, and hover, signature and symbol information from the Dart language server
- Packages searched on pub.dev, added with pub, and searched inside your dependencies
- A running Flutter app hot reloaded or hot restarted, with its latest runtime errors read
- The widget tree inspected in a running Flutter app, and Flutter Driver commands run against it
- Projects created, code formatted and fixed, tests run, and apps launched on a device: these tools are off by default
Requirements
The Dart SDK 3.9 or later. An MCP client that supports local servers; for every feature it also needs Tools and Resources support. No account or key. In Claude Code, the Flutter team's recommended route is its dart-flutter plugin, which sets this server up for you.
Setup effort
One command — dart mcp-server
