MCP SERVER

Create and update tone tasks from your AI client, as an AI user your team can assign work to.

Project & Task Management
Summary
A task board where "assign it to the AI" is a real action.

The interesting part is not the tool surface but the model of an AI user: instead of the assistant guessing which tasks are its business, you assign it the ones you want done, and it reads its own queue. Setup is unusually short for Claude Desktop and Cursor, since both have a one-step path from tone's own admin screen.

What it is

The MCP server for tone, a team task manager built for people and AI working from the same board. With it connected, an AI tool can create and update tasks in your workspace.

What you get
  • Task creation and updates in tone, driven from whichever MCP client you use
  • AI users you create in tone's admin screen — assign one to a task and it marks that task as the work you want handed to the AI
  • A .dxt extension file on the releases page that installs into Claude Desktop by drag and drop
  • A deep link from tone's admin screen that sets Cursor up without hand-editing config
  • A plain npx entry for any other MCP client
Requirements

A tone account, and an AI user secret issued from tone's admin screen — it starts with `aitk-`. Pass it after `-s` when the client runs `npx -y tone-mcp`, or paste it into the Claude Desktop extension after dropping in the .dxt file.

Setup effort

One command plus a key — npx -y tone-mcp -s aitk-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, then supply credentials
