create-pr

Instructs the agent to turn the changes from the current session into a GitHub pull request, which proposes merging those changes into a project and lets others discuss and review them first. It is built into VS Code's Agents window, a separate window for running AI agent sessions. You can start it there by typing /create-pr, and the agent can also choose it on its own when you ask for a pull request.

Create Pull Request

Use the GitHub MCP server to create a pull request if available, otherwise use gh CLI.

Run the compile task (fixing any errors)
If there are any uncommitted changes, use the /commit skill to commit them
Review all changes in the current session
Write a clear, concise PR title with a short area prefix (e.g. "sessions: …", "editor: …")
Write a description covering what changed, why, and anything reviewers should know
Create the pull request, passing show_ui=false so the PR is created without opening a confirmation UI

GitHub sign-in for VS Code's Agents window
In VS Code, this skill is built into the Agents window. By default the window needs a GitHub sign-in with access to GitHub Copilot. The browser version of the Agents window always requires a GitHub sign-in.

GitHub access for the agent
The skill instructs the agent to create the pull request through the GitHub MCP server if it is available, and otherwise through the GitHub CLI (gh). Either route needs access to your GitHub account: the GitHub MCP server connected to your agent, or gh installed and signed in to GitHub.

Experimental: Agents window without GitHub sign-in
On desktop, an experimental setting lets the Agents window open without a GitHub sign-in, but creating the pull request still needs access to your GitHub account. Before opening the window, turn on chat.agentHost.allowSignedOutWhenUsable (off by default; an experiment might turn it on) and have one of these: (1) Claude with an API key or another bring-your-own-key (BYOK) option, (2) Codex signed in to ChatGPT, or (3) a visible BYOK model configured in VS Code, with chat.agentHost.byokModels.enabled on. For Codex, turn on chat.agentHost.codexAgent.enabled, then choose Sign in to ChatGPT in the Agents window's account menu.

VS Code's /commit skill
Before it opens the pull request, the skill instructs the agent to commit any uncommitted changes with VS Code's /commit skill. In VS Code it is built in alongside this one; in another agent, add the commit skill as well.

Titles get an area prefix
The skill asks for a short area prefix in the title, such as editor: …. If your repository uses another convention, save a customized copy of the skill; VS Code uses your copy instead of the built-in one.

Built into VS Code. Nothing to install there. The npx skills add command copies the same instructions into another agent, but they are written for VS Code and may call tools only VS Code has.

Run this outside your AI tool, using Node.js 22.20.0 or newer. Skills CLI 1.7.2 skips skill selection; prompts cancel installation without an interactive terminal. If choosing Project when asked about installation scope, open your project's folder before running this.

Install checklist

Check selected tools if a picker appears; Claude Code may be unchecked under Additional agents. ↑/↓ moves, Space toggles selections, Enter confirms.
Without a tool picker, check Installing to: for your intended tool. Stop if it names a different tool.
If asked, choose Symlink (Recommended) for shared files or Copy to all agents for separate copies; review the summary before confirming installation.
Install the find-skills skill? defaults to Yes, adding another skill for all projects. Choose No if you don't want that extra installation.

Skills CLI 1.7.2 sends install data to skills.sh by default, including the source, skill names, target tools and file details; GitHub sources are reported only when GitHub confirms the repository is public, while other remote sources can also be reported. Confirmed-public GitHub sources also trigger a security-audit request. Before installing, set the environment variable DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1 to disable both.

After installing for Claude Code, open it in the installation project if you chose Project; Global makes the skill available across projects on this computer. Once Claude Code loads the skill, its description helps Claude decide when to use it.

If installation created a top-level skills folder that did not exist when your Claude Code session started, run /reload-skills in that session. Run it again after later changes in that folder.
