Fine-tunes and serves Physical Intelligence's OpenPI robot models, pi0, pi0-fast and pi0.5, which turn camera images and an instruction into robot actions. It covers setup on a fresh machine, training with JAX or PyTorch, converting checkpoints between the two, and running a policy server that your robot or simulator connects to.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Fine-tune pi0.5 on your own robot dataset in LeRobot format.
  • Start a policy server for ALOHA, DROID or LIBERO from a ready-made checkpoint.
  • Convert a JAX checkpoint to PyTorch for training or deployment.
  • Connect robot code to a policy server on another GPU machine.
  • Fix missing normalization statistics or out-of-memory errors during training.

NOT FOR

  • OpenVLA with continuous action heads and LoRA: the fine-tuning-openvla-oft skill.
  • Evaluating NVIDIA Cosmos Policy in simulation: the evaluating-cosmos-policy skill.
