Twenty-odd well-known open AI models — Llama, Gemma, Phi, Qwen, Mistral — each written out as one readable file instead of being buried under layers of framework, so you can follow what the model actually does and change it.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Load a pretrained model like Phi-2 or Llama 3 and generate text in a few lines.
  • Fine-tune a model on your own instruction dataset with LoRA on a single 16GB GPU.
  • Pretrain a new model from scratch across multiple GPUs or nodes with FSDP.
  • Merge trained LoRA adapters into the base model, then convert it to GGUF for llama.cpp.
  • Serve a fine-tuned model behind a small FastAPI endpoint.

NOT FOR

  • For more fine-tuning features and YAML configs, use Axolotl or TRL instead.
  • For maximum performance on models above 70B, use Megatron-Core instead.
  • For the broadest model support, use HuggingFace Transformers instead.
  • For inference only, with no training, use vLLM instead.
