Training code written by hand is mostly the same plumbing every time; put yours into this standard shape and the plumbing comes written for you, whether the run ends up on a laptop or on a supercomputer.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Turn a hand-written PyTorch training loop into a shorter, organized one with less boilerplate.
  • Move a model from a single GPU to eight GPUs by changing one Trainer argument.
  • Add early stopping and automatic best-checkpoint saving with a couple of callbacks.
  • Log training and validation metrics to TensorBoard without extra logging code.

NOT FOR

  • Use Ray Train instead for multi-node orchestration and cluster-wide hyperparameter tuning.
  • Use raw PyTorch instead for maximum control or when you're learning the fundamentals.
  • Use Accelerate instead for minimal changes to code you don't want to restructure.
