Renting computing power from a cloud company normally ties your work to that one company's way of doing things; here you write the job down once and it will run on any of twenty-odd providers, picking itself back up if a cheap machine gets taken away mid-run.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Run a training job on whichever cloud has the cheapest available GPU right now.
  • Pay three to six times less by taking the cloud's discounted leftover machines.
  • Launch the same multi-node training job on AWS, GCP, or Azure without rewriting it.
  • Put a model online behind a service that adds machines as traffic grows.

NOT FOR

  • Use Modal instead for a simpler, serverless, Python-native GPU service.
  • Use RunPod instead for persistent pods on a single cloud.
  • Use Kubernetes directly instead if you already run that infrastructure.
  • Use Ray instead for pure Ray-based orchestration.
