stripe-docs

Lets your coding assistant read and search Stripe's documentation and API reference through the Stripe CLI's docs command, instead of fetching web pages. Pages come back as Markdown, and once you sign in through the CLI it also reads documentation that needs a Stripe account.

WHEN YOUR AGENT SHOULD USE IT

A QUICK BOUNDARY

USE FOR

  • Look up a Stripe API resource, endpoint or event type.
  • Search Stripe's docs for a topic such as payment intents.
  • Read documentation that requires a Stripe login.

Documents

This is the playbook your agent receives when the skill activates — you don't need to read it to use the skill, but it's here to audit before installing.

Use stripe docs instead of fetching docs.stripe.com content directly with curl or WebFetch. If you don’t have the CLI installed, install the Stripe CLI.

Always use the latest CLI version. If the current CLI version is less than v1.50.9, you must upgrade to access gated documentation.

  • Fetches Markdown automatically
  • Fetches gated documentation. Users must log in using stripe login to access gated documentation.
  • Purpose-built for agents and terminal workflows

Installation

Install as a Claude Code plugin

Run this in a terminal, from your project folder. It installs Stripe's plugin for Claude Code, which brings this skill and Stripe's other skills, sets up the Stripe MCP server and keeps the skills up to date. Stripe's docs also offer an automatic setup: install the Stripe CLI (npm install -g @stripe/cli@latest), then run stripe agent setup. It detects which agents you use (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, Kiro, OpenClaw) and sets up the matching plugin for each.

BEFORE IT WILL WORK

1 FOR YOU
  1. 01
The Stripe CLI, version 1.50.9 or newer

Install the Stripe CLI and keep it current; versions older than 1.50.9 can't read gated documentation. Sign in through the CLI to read pages that need your account.
