Cited answers from your Egnyte folders and Knowledge Bases.
Teams that keep documents in Egnyte can summarize a report, put a question to a whole folder or Knowledge Base, and file notes or share links back.
What it is
Egnyte's fully managed remote MCP server at mcp-server.egnyte.com/mcp. It connects an AI assistant to your company's Egnyte domain, and only to the files and folders you can already open. Egnyte says the server does not store or cache any content it passes along.
What you get
- Files searched by name, content and metadata, with filters for folders and dates
- A document's text read, or a single document questioned or summarized with Egnyte AI
- Questions put to Egnyte AI Assistant or to your Knowledge Bases, with citations
- Folders browsed and created, text files uploaded, and upload or download links made for other files
- Custom metadata set on files
- Comments read and added, and share links listed or created
- Your company's project folders listed
Requirements
An Egnyte account on a supported plan: Gen 4 Essential, Elite or Ultimate, or a Gen 3 Platform plan. You sign in with OAuth by entering your Egnyte domain and logging in. On Gen 3 plans without the AI Add-On, only some of the tools are available. Text files up to 8 MB can be uploaded directly; for larger or binary files it creates a one-time upload link, and transfers are most reliable under 200 MB.
Setup effort
Paste a URL, then authorize — add the endpoint to your client, then approve the OAuth consent screen
