LABSCO SUMMARY
Finds, reads and adds Drive files, but never edits or deletes them.
Good for pulling facts out of your documents and starting new ones from old: it searches by title or full text, reads a file with its comments, and creates Docs, Sheets, Slides or copies.
What it is
A remote MCP server Google runs at drivemcp.googleapis.com. It acts with your Google account's own permissions. It is part of the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program, which gives early access to features.
What you get
- Files searched by title, full text, type and other fields, or listed by most recent
- A readable text version of a file, with its comments if you ask
- A file's raw content downloaded, or a Google file exported to a format such as CSV
- A file's details and who it is shared with
- New Docs, Sheets, Slides and folders created, and files uploaded
- Copies of existing files, with a new title or folder
Requirements
- A Google account in the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program, and a Google Cloud project with the Google Drive API and the Drive MCP service turned on.
- You set up an OAuth consent screen and create your own OAuth client ID and secret in that project, then enter them in your MCP client.
- In Claude.ai or Claude Desktop this is a custom connector, which needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan.
- Very large files may come back incomplete.
- Google warns that documents from strangers can carry hidden instructions, so review what your agent does on your behalf.
Setup effort
Paste a URL, then authorize — add the endpoint to your client, then approve the OAuth consent screen
