Investment research and client portfolio checks both draw on Morningstar's own analysts and data, from the reasoning behind a stock's fair value to fund shortlists by rating or fees and an X-Ray of a portfolio.
What it is
Morningstar's remote MCP server at mcp.morningstar.com/mcp. It gives AI assistants Morningstar's research, articles and investment data, which Morningstar says covers more than 200,000 global securities. A licensed Morningstar account is required.
What you get
- Morningstar analyst and quantitative reports on stocks, funds and ETFs, including fair value, economic moat and Bulls Say/Bears Say views
- Answers drawn from Morningstar's articles and market commentary since 2022
- Data for global mutual funds, ETFs and stocks
- Screens of ETFs, funds, stocks and other investments by criteria such as fees, ratings and returns
- The top holdings of a list of funds or ETFs
- A portfolio or fund broken down with Morningstar's X-Ray: asset mix, sectors, regions, style and risk/return
Requirements
- A licensed Morningstar account; contact your Morningstar representative if you do not have one.
- In Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Microsoft Foundry and Perplexity you add Morningstar and sign in with your Morningstar credentials; your own code can use a token from Morningstar's Authentication API.
- On Claude for Enterprise, an administrator adds it first.
- Analyst reports are the latest published versions only, usually within 24 hours of release, so go to Morningstar directly for past reports.
