Adds sign-up and sign-in to an app with Neon Auth, Neon's managed version of the Better Auth library, which keeps users and sessions in your Neon Postgres database and branches them along with it. It first checks what sign-in the app already has and keeps a working one, such as Clerk or Supabase Auth, unless you ask to move. It covers email and password, Google, GitHub and Vercel sign-in, email codes, magic links and allowed domains, and says when a feature such as passkeys or two-factor needs a self-hosted setup instead.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Add login to a new app built on Neon.
  • Move sign-in from Supabase Auth to Neon Auth.
  • Send verification codes, magic links and password resets without your own mail service.
  • Fix an invalid domain error after sign-in.

NOT FOR

  • Replacing a working Clerk, Auth.js or Better Auth setup just to use Neon.
  • Two-factor sign-in, passkeys or SAML single sign-on on the managed service: those need self-hosted Better Auth.
