Takes facts that live in your own business data, like a customer's plan or yearly revenue, and stamps them onto each person or company in PostHog. From then on you can filter, segment and target by them like any built-in trait.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Put each customer's plan tier from your Stripe data onto their PostHog profile.
  • Roll out a feature flag only to customers whose yearly revenue is above $50k.
  • Copy columns from a Postgres accounts table onto the companies (groups) in PostHog.
  • Work out why a mapped value isn't showing up on people, using each run's match counts.
  • Refresh older values after you fix the source data, without paying for a fresh import.

NOT FOR

  • Connecting a data source PostHog doesn't import yet — set that up first with setting-up-a-data-warehouse-source.
  • Adding an account property for Customer analytics — that target reads a different kind of table.
  • Only querying warehouse data — join it in a query instead of writing it onto people.
