One bug can show up as fifty separate entries in the error list when its message carries a random ID or a changing file path; this folds them back into one and sets a rule so new copies land there too.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Decide whether two similar-looking errors are actually the same bug or two different ones.
  • Stop a recurring noisy error from spawning a fresh entry every single time.
  • Split a merge back apart if two different errors got grouped together by mistake.
  • Rename and re-describe the surviving entry once the duplicates are folded in.

NOT FOR

  • Merging bugs that are only conceptually similar but come from different runtimes, SDKs, or call sites.
  • Dropping worthless error events entirely; that's the suppressing-noisy-errors skill.
