A canvas is a custom page a team builds inside PostHog, such as a status board or a task inbox; this is how its code puts real PostHog numbers on screen, with a way beside each figure to check where it came from.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Show a figure from a saved PostHog chart on a canvas, matching what PostHog itself shows.
  • Add a 'View in PostHog' link or a show-the-query panel so viewers can check every number.
  • Make a board fill in section by section instead of waiting for its slowest query.
  • Build a live task board from PostHog's task tables instead of a pasted-in snapshot.
  • Show each viewer their own open GitHub pull requests through their own connection.
  • Remember a viewer's draft, or a setting shared by the whole team, between visits.

NOT FOR

  • Showing only one space's tasks or only 'my tasks' — the task tables cannot filter that way yet.
