The pass in PostHog's automatic code review that asks the plainest question of a change — does it actually do what it is meant to do? — hunting for wrong sums, forgotten corner cases and database lookups that fetch the wrong rows.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Catch off-by-one slips and wrong conditions in the business rules of a change.
  • Check that data is not lost or mangled when it is converted from one form into another.
  • Find database queries with the wrong filter or grouping, or results that come back in no fixed order.
  • Flag a database call that freezes other work while it waits, inside code built to multitask.
  • Review the prompts in AI features for vague instructions, missing examples or fragile parsing of replies.

NOT FOR

  • Security holes and API-breaking changes — the Contracts & Security pass owns those.
  • Speed problems and gaps in error handling, which go to the Performance & Reliability pass.
  • Documentation and pure configuration files, which are read for context but never flagged.
