Two separate dials decide who sees what in an experiment: how many people are let into it at all, and how those inside are divided between the versions on test. This sets both, and steers you towards an even division with fewer people let in, which is the safer way to get a lopsided-looking test.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Change how much of the overall traffic gets let into a running experiment.
  • Work out whether '25% see the test variant' should be an uneven split or a lower rollout.
  • Safely widen a running experiment's rollout without reassigning anyone's variant.
  • Decide how to handle users exposed to more than one variant when the split is uneven.

NOT FOR

  • Setting exposure criteria, metrics, or multivariate handling — that's configuring-experiment-analytics.
  • Stopping new users from entering without touching who's already enrolled — freeze exposure instead.
