A performance review of Django code that reports only what it can prove — the problems that quietly get worse as the data grows — and says nothing at all when it finds none.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Confirm whether reading a related field inside a loop fires one database query per item.
  • Check a list endpoint for missing pagination before it loads a whole table into memory.
  • Decide whether a database filter needs an index, based on table size and traffic.
  • Turn a loop of individual database writes into one efficient batched write.

NOT FOR

  • Not for flagging issues in test files, admin-only views, or migration scripts.
  • Not for micro-optimizations like exists() vs count() without real evidence they matter.
