Turns rows of records in Azure Data Explorer into a network of connections — which user logged into which machine, from which address — and then follows the paths through it.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Find the shortest route from a compromised account to a server you care about.
  • Spot two users failing to log in on the same machine, a common sign of password guessing.
  • Find groups of machines that only talk to each other, to check your network is split as intended.
  • Save a graph inside the database so a whole security team can reuse it and compare snapshots.
  • Show the connections as an interactive picture in Kusto Explorer, Microsoft's Windows query app.

NOT FOR

  • Writing a database query from scratch out of a plain-English question; that needs a separate query-writing skill.
