Turns an app's code into something Microsoft's Azure cloud can host — deciding which Azure services it needs and writing the files that set them up.

WHEN TO USE

SCOPE

USE FOR

  • Set up a brand-new app with everything it needs to run on Azure, from nothing.
  • Add Azure infrastructure to an existing app that doesn't have any yet.
  • Modernize an existing application's Azure setup.
  • Generate ready-to-deploy infrastructure code (Bicep or Terraform) for a function app, container app, or web app.
  • Review and approve an infrastructure plan before anything gets created.

NOT FOR

  • Python App Service code-only deployments; use python-appservice-deploy instead.
  • Migrating a workload from another cloud provider; use azure-cloud-migrate instead.
  • Actually running the deployment; that step is handled by azure-deploy.
